Dark Pokemon Weakness

In this segment, we will highlight the dark pokemon weaknesses. There’s no denying that the mega-successful anime Pokemon has one of the most vivid fictional universes ever created. It has over a staggering 900 pokemon over the span of the series.

While each pokemon is unique in its own way, they can officially be broadly divided into 18 types, each with its own strengths and weaknesses.

So whether you are engrossed watching the show or you are trying your hand at Pokemon Go!, it is imperative to know the strong and vulnerable parts of your pokemon. Here are the dark pokemon weaknesses:

Types Of Pokemon And Why Does It Matter?

Based on their natural elemental properties as well as kind of moves, Pokemon are divided into 18 types, namely, Normal, Fire, Electric, Water, Grass, Ice, Ghost, Psychic, Dark, Bug, Flying, Fighting, Fairy etc.

In the Poke-verse, no pokemon is objectively stronger or weaker. Each type of pokemon overpowers certain types while being vulnerable to the other based on their nature.

While most of the pokemon types were revealed in Generation I, there were few additions in coming generations, notable ones being, Dark and Steel-type in generation II and Fairy-type in generation IV.

As we mentioned before, each Type has certain effectiveness over the other type. Here are the effectivenesses of a move over the other types:

  • Super effective: The damage is doubled.
  • Not very effective: The damage is halved.
  • Not effective: The target is completely immune to it and the move will result in no damage.

This way we can also use a type chart to assess the apt pokemon for a battle. Each pokemon has its strengths and weaknesses. here are the Dark pokemon weaknesses.

Why Dark Type Pokemon Were Added?

It is one of the 18 types of pokemon in the series. First introduced in Generation II, the dark type pokemon were mainly brought into the series to counter the psychic type pokemon. Examples of the dark type pokemon include Umbreon, Absol, Tyranitar, Darkrai, Bisharp, Houndoom, and more.

The dark type was added to the second generation to counteract the psychic type’s dominance in the first place, as it is completely immune to it and can efficiently combat psychic types. Before Generation VI, when paired with the Ghost-type, it was the only type combination that had no weaknesses.

In Generation II, the Dark type was the only one without a type boost from a Badge. Dark-type Pokémon could only be encountered at night in Generation II. However, in the following generations, this type of Pokémon might be encountered at any time of day.

Some of the famous Dark type pokemon trainers are Karen from Indigo League, Sidney from Ever Grande City, Marnie from Spikemuth, etc.

Dark-type Pokémon are also weak to a type called Fairy. This type is relatively new and was only introduced in Generation VI, compared to, say, Dark-type, which was introduced in Generation II.

Gardevoir is a Fairy Pokémon that stands out with its Charm and Dazzling Gleam, two of the most significant Fairy-type offense moves. Alakazam can use Dazzling gleam to ward off dark types. Togekiss is another feasible Fairy type alternative, and it should ideally use the same moveset as Gardevoir because it will combat with dark type easily being the strongest fairy moves.

While these two are the best, there are plenty of other possibilities, including Granbull, who uses a different moveset with Play Rough rather than Dazzling Gleam which can be an effective dark type weakness.

Bug, fairy, and fighting type pokemon are super effective against Dark-type. That is not to say Dark-type don’t have their own strengths; Dark types generally render psychic, ghost, and other dark types useless.

Ground Dark Pokemon Weaknesses

Pokemon like Sandile, Krokorok, and Krookodile belong to the Dark and Ground-type. They are all weak and vulnerable to Bug, Fairy, Fighting, Grass, Ice, and Water-type moves. They are all stimulated by Sunny and Fog weather.

Is there a Pokemon with No Weaknesses?

While this may sound too good to be true, there indeed is one such pokemon that has a combination that makes it have no weakness at all.

There are no weaknesses in the Eelektross line (Tynamo, Eelektrik, and Eelektross). Because they are pure Electric-type Pokémon and they can also use the Levitate ability. Levitate protects the user from Ground-type attacks, which are Electric-type users’ main adversary. This unique combination gives this line of Pokemon rare leverage of having no weaknesses.

Is this Dark Pokemon Weakness applicable to all Pokemon Games?
